Liam could not be happier

In 2023 Liam was completing a sports BTEC in college but left due to not feeling that the environment was right for him. After this, he was struggling with his sleep and struggling with self-motivation. Liam still had a passion to become a sports coach but had no idea how he was going to achieve his goal.

Through the support of his CSW Group Key Worker, Liam was referred to Argyle Community Trust (ACT) on YEP! in January 2024.

The pathway to his goal included achieving a Sports Leadership Level 2 qualification, gaining work experience within coaching and building an understanding of different employment opportunities available in the sport industry.

Liam completed a day of coaching work experience with ACT on one of their roadshows for young people aged 5-11. Through the Sports Leadership Level 2, he learnt how to write a risk assessment and plan an effective coaching session.

During 1:1 mentoring sessions, Liam and his Key Worker wrote a new CV and cover letter that he could easily adapt  for different job applications. Together, they also completed an application for a Sports Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship with a local primary school.

We are pleased to share that Liam was successful at this interview and started his employment after the Easter Holidays in April 2024.

Within 4 months of support with ACT, Liam’s confidence and motivation skyrocketed. He is thriving in his new employment and could not be happier.

With the guidance and 1:1 mentoring from Caitlin at ACT, I am very proud to say that I am now on a Sports Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship at a local primary school in Cornwall. Without this bespoke support from Caitlin, I would not be where I am today.

I would highly recommend YEP! to any young person because all the partners are there to support you with their wide range of knowledge and their kindness.” Liam
