North Devon based TDK-Lambda UK sponsors Big Bang South West award
TDK-Lambda UK is pleased to be attending and sponsoring an award for most innovative STEM project at the Big Bang South West Regional Fair being held on Tuesday 25th June 2019 at the Exeter Westpoint Arena.
This year we are showcasing popular interactive demonstrators, designed and built in our Ilfracombe, North Devon facility. The displays show how semiconductor transistors react to different electric current conditions and indicate the design of safety interlocks and their associated wiring. New to the stand this year we have also introduced time-based inspiring problem solving involving logic gate applications. Other activities on the day will include various electronic related subjects to show the science behind practical applications within our industry.
Planning for these events takes place throughout the year, giving our own trainee engineers and apprentices the opportunity to design and construct inspiring activities for attending students.
TDK-Lambda UK is an enthusiastic supporter of STEM related programs. Big Bang South West is used to showcase our particular industry and present the many (and varied) opportunities that exist for students looking for an exciting career in our company.
Since 2013 we have been involved on a number of STEM related projects with local schools and colleges. Each project is developed with and closely monitored by local management at
TDK-Lambda’s Ilfracombe facility to ensure all Health & Safety requirements are met, and that the content fulfils the course needs. Recent projects included component reviews using TDK-Lambda’s state-of-the-art test & measurement equipment, controlling the ambient environment for the surface mount component placement production lines and goods-in area, calculating the facility’s carbon footprint, and improving product handling within production.
