What a great experience!! I have lived in Cornwall now for over 9 years now, but I still felt like I was on a magical mystery tour. I visited towns and villages I had never been aware of and had a view over the hedges, spotting hidden gems in the Cornish Countryside that are just not visible from the perspective of a car.
Jo is a true advocate for the library system, and it shows in the way she talks and interacts with each and every user. Jo knew everyone’s name, and the types of books they enjoyed reading.
Every person that walked on to the Mobile library, was engaging and so passionate about the service that Jo and the team are giving to the outreach communities, the interaction that each stop created, whether it was for 30mins or 1 hour, allowing for the time to browse the shelfs and have genuine discussions between themselves. I loved the honest, heartfelt concern showed by the users of the library as they checked in with each other and made sure they were well, showing true concern if someone hasn’t arrived on time.
I was able to speak to nearly every customer that entered the bus, also to the partners and friends who were standing outside. They received CSW Health Works openly and warmly – many really amazed at what we can and do offer to our participants.
This felt like a step back in time, to when community was key to everyday life.
What an amazing job the library and Jo are offering with this service and thank you Jo and Sara for the opportunity to join you for two days.
