SMART SKILLS Enables David the Electrician to Expand His Business into Electric Vehicle Charging Installation Projects

David has worked as a self-employed Electrical Contractor for the past 12 years.  He had previously attended a range of electrical courses in Exeter with The Focus Training Group, where he heard about the opportunity of completing fully funded training courses through SMART SKILLS.

David has always been keen to learn new skills and is proactive in keeping up to date with all new legislations.  So, when the opportunity arose for David to attend both the NICEIC Safe Isolation course and the NICEIC Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC) course with SMART Partner, The Focus Training Group, he jumped at the chance to enrol onto both courses.

David has a particular interest in learning more about green and sustainable energy and felt the NICEIC EVC course was very relevant at this present time with green energy becoming more available, growing in popularity, and shaping the future.  David found the NICEIC EVC course very informative and learnt a great deal about the whole process and regulations required for the installation of all electrical vehicle charging points.

By completing the Safe Isolation Course, David felt he had updated his knowledge on the regulations for working safely.  It is easy to fall into a rut and so to have these skills updated on a regular basis was imperative to him working safely at all times.

David has learnt a wealth of new skills and gained new knowledge from completing the two courses through SMART SKILLS.  David said, “Had the courses not been fully funded, it would not have been feasible to participate in the courses at this time.”  David will now be able to work on any electric vehicle charging installation projects in the future and is looking forward to using his newly gained skills to help grow his electrical contractor business.
