NCFE Level 2 Award in Mentoring

What will I learn?

This qualification enables learners to understand the role of a mentor and be aware of the skills needed to become an effective mentor. The aims of the qualification are to help learners to:

  • Gain insight into the role and practice of mentorship
  • Be clear about mentor/mentee relationships
  • Ensure the mentor follows good practice
  • Be aware of the specific skills and understanding required in order to mentor
  • Review own learning and work performance.
Course dates

Starts Monday 7th November 2022, 12.00-2.30pm (2.5hrs session per week for 6 weeks)

Delivery

This course is delivered by South Devon College via MS Teams by a course tutor.  You will be required to participate in group discussions and peer 1:1 mentoring via Breakout Rooms, as well as completing individual work/study. You will also be required to develop the work covered in the class in your own time and practice between sessions (estimated between 1-3 hours per week).

Additional information

Assessment:
Evidence is gained by the successful completion of an assessment portfolio (3 workbooks), supported by resources accessible via a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Moodle. You will also be required to conduct a recorded mentoring session that will be assessed, and feedback will be provided. All evidence requires upload for assessment; instructions will be provided in the first session, supported by a guidance document.

Progression:
After successful completion of the course there are progression opportunities to the CMI Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring with South Devon College. Course dates will be discussed during this course.
