Work Experience

Work experience provides a crucial opportunity for the development of vital employability skills. It can take place at any point, but for most it’s something which happens during secondary school. For many, that week or two will be the first taste of working life.

For all it is a valuable experience; developing employability skills is essential alongside traditional academic qualifications to help prepare for life after school, college and university.

We are committed to provide a work experience service that supports young people, schools, colleges and businesses work together to achieve meaningful and safe work experience as simply as possible.

What we provide:

  • An initial detailed meeting to discuss your work experience requirements
  • A comprehensive work experience management tool providing a time saving resource to enable you to efficiently manage your work experience programme
  • An online searchable database of more than 48,000 employers across the South West who have previously offered work experience placements
  • Experienced personnel within our Work Experience Liaison Officer team. Trained to IOSH and/or NEBOSH level they undertake duty of care checks with employers for work experience placements to ensure they are assessed/reviewed as suitable and compliant to provide a student placement location.

Delivered by our experienced Enterprise Team and designed together with companies across the South West, our hands-on sessions bring the workplace into the classroom for a more engaging learning experience.

Choose from a range of exciting, real-world activities, delivered by real employers, to work alongside your curriculum – giving your students the opportunity to work with business professionals in the classroom. We will tailor bespoke Enterprise activities and days to suit the needs of your school or college and to help you meet the Gatsby Benchmarks.

STEM Ambassadors and The Big Bang Fair

CSW Group manage the South West Peninsula STEM Ambassador Hub covering Devon and Cornwall. This is a free resource for schools and activities include supporting interactive classroom activities, STEM clubs, careers talks and much more. As well as this, we host the Big Bang Fair South West. Big Bang Near Me is part of a programme of UK-wide events that are deigned to get young people excited about STEM.
