Engagement Advisers

Location: We have permanent full and part-time vacancies within the following areas: Exeter, East and Mid Devon
Salary: £23,00 – £25,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Have you got the skills to make a real difference to unemployed young people? Do you want to help them to reach their potential? We are looking for individuals who can engage with young people either in education settings or, for those aged 16-19, in their own communities as well as providing additional support by telephone and on-line channels.

You will manage a large caseload of young people, supporting them to access education, employment, and training opportunities by providing advice and guidance as well as undertaking signposting and referral activities. You will work closely with our Career Development Advisers providing a seamless service for education leavers, and you will also work with a wide range of other agencies. Working in education and/or the community means seeing young people across a broad geographical area which means a degree of travel will be involved. You will be expected to build your knowledge of the services and provision available to young people and to grow a network of contacts within your work area including understanding how to support the hardest to reach young people.

Experience of working with young people as well as an understanding of the challenges they face is a requirement of this role. You should be experienced in setting priorities and have an understanding how to balance your workload to ensure that contractual targets are met. Possessing excellent ICT skills, you will be required to record client information, at point of contact, on our database. Flexibility, including working outside of normal hours on occasions to meet the needs of young people and the contract is also a requirement.

We currently have vacancies in the following areas:

Exeter, East and Mid Devon (full-time/part-time )– working alongside other advisers in Exeter you will be part of Exeter City Council, Devon County Council and DWP’s Exeter Works Youth Hub. This innovative project brings together a number of agencies across the city including the Job Centre Plus, Building Greater Exeter, Exeter College and the National Careers Service. Across East and Mid- Devon, you will be working from community venues such as Exmouth Job Club, Axminster Job Club, Youth Clubs and Libraries.

Candidates should hold the NVQ L4 Advice and Guidance or equivalent (e.g Youth and Community, Teaching, Social Work) or be already working towards it.

CSW Group are the largest single provider of information, advice and guidance services across the South- West region and operate a range of contracts supporting young people to make successful transitions at key points of their lives. This work includes careers guidance services in schools and the community, supporting young people with a range of individual needs including SEND, mental health and those involved in the Youth Justice system, as well as working with those not in education or employment (NEETs) to re-engage them in positive outcomes.
