Inspiring Futures Round-Up
During the week 15th-19th March, in conjunction with the Careers and Enterprise Company, CSW Group delivered a series of high-quality careers education webinars aimed at young people in education, including those with special educational needs. This was the third series of webinars that CSW Group has delivered within the past year, partly in response to the find ways of using technology to overcome the logistical challenges posed by Covid-19. The webinars were all delivered live via the Zoom platform and all encouraged live interaction from the audience, whether via Q&A or interactive polling.
Each webinar covered a different careers education topic, but the unifying them throughout the week was how to prepare for the transition from education to employment. Some of the session covered the practicalities of applying for and securing work, focusing on job applications, transferable skills, and interview techniques. Others covered the risks and benefits of using social media appropriately in the context of employability, the benefits of volunteering and the value of volunteering. The week ended with a Q&A session where a panel of employers answered a range of questions, including what employers expect from young job applicants and what jobs are still available despite the impact of Covid-19.
Feedback from webinar applicants has been very positive; here are some comments from attendees:
“It taught me what to focus on personally when looking for a job.”
“Clear examples provided from employers. Good for students to see this information coming from another source.”
“It covered a lot of ground and explained the issues around online safety,”
“Details about where students could do apprenticeships, and also this webinar dissolved some prejudice that they held.”
All 9 webinars were recorded and are accessible at CSW Group’s YouTube channel.
