Our innovative Enterprise days and half days encourage students to develop a greater awareness of life after school. Run by our experienced Enterprise Team and designed together with companies across the South West, our hands-on sessions bring the workplace into the classroom for a more engaging learning experience which will also enhance the development of key skills.
We were delighted to run our popular Apprentice Challenge at Torpoint Community College on Friday 18th October, consisting of business orientated tasks designed to engage and challenge the students of year 10. Once spilt into groups, chosen by the careers lead to represent what it is like in the real world and working with people the students normally wouldn’t, they needed to choose one of the available products to come up with a business idea and pitch. The products available were basic, everyday products meaning the students could be as innovative and creative as possible to turn it into something exciting to pitch.
The students of Torpoint Community College were supported by some fantastic Business Mentors from Babcock International, the Careers Hub Cornwall and the Isle of Scilly, CIOB South West, Rolls Royce and STEM. The mentors worked with the students to encourage brilliant ideas and be on hand for any questions. By bringing in industry professionals into the classroom, our Enterprise Days give students that interaction with people of the real world which develops communication and confidence skills.
We were blown away by the business plans that came out of Torpoint Community College’s Apprentice Challenge. During the presentations where the students shared their plans it was evident that everyone had put in lots of effort and were proud of their work.
