CSW Group hosted the launch event of the new Ambitions project at Heartlands, Pool on Tuesday 20th November. The project is funded by the European Social Fund and will be delivered in partnership with a number of organisations who are all committed to improving outcomes for unemployed and economically inactive 15-24 year olds in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The partnership includes Cornwall College, Truro and Penwith College, Cornwall Council, RIO and the Learning Partnership.
Ambitions will increase the level of Career Education, Information, Advice and Guidance services available to young people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, as well as providing a wide range of work experience and informal learning opportunities. The project has a particular focus on, but is not limited to, supporting young people who may be disabled; lone parents; from black and minority ethnic groups; or without basic skills.
The event featured keynote speaker Dr Deirdre Hughes, who gave an overview of the value of career learning and the importance of supporting young people to form career identities to enable effective decision making skills. CSW Group’s Ambitions Contract Manager, Gemma Pople also gave a presentation on the projects core aims and objectives. The event was well attended by a wide range of organisations with the Ambitions partners acting as exhibitions in the hall to allow delegates to network and find out more about what each partners offer is.
Ambitions delivery is starting to take place across schools, colleges and community venues and the project will support young people to achieve basic skills qualifications and progressions into education, employment and training. More information about the project, the Ambitions partnership and what’s on offer can be found at www.ambitionscornwall.co.uk
CSW Group were thrilled at the fantastic feedback that was received as well as the positive attitudes towards the Ambitions Project.
