Education is not just for the young. Without even thinking about it we all learn something new every day. Education is lifelong. It’s much more than school or college. It can be books and exams, but it can also be practical, informative and fun. Education has the power to change your life and to open doorways and new opportunities. Education can expand your horizons and make you grow in ways you never thought possible.

Whatever opportunity you’re looking for, Dorset is well placed to cater for your needs. Perhaps you need a specific qualification to get your dream job. Maybe you’re looking for CSCS card to get you started in the construction industry. Perhaps you want qualifications to prove your competence in Maths and English or just want to keep up with the kid’s homework. Maybe you want to go to university. Maybe an extra qualification will increase your chances of getting a raise or a promotion?

Apprenticeships allow you to combine practical on-the-job training with appropriate study. You’ll get to work alongside experienced colleagues, gain job-specific skills and receive time away from the workplace to study skills relevant to your role. As an apprentice you’ll be paid a wage and get holiday pay too. Apprenticeships last between one and five years depending on their level.

You can become an apprentice at any age. You can start applying while still at school or at any time after that. There are plenty of employers looking to take on more mature applicants and there are no upper age limits.

The following links provide more information and explain how you can search and apply for Apprenticeship vacancies. In addition to the information below there are many training providers who offer apprenticeship services. The local Training Provider Network can put you in touch with those local to you.
